A FIGHTING fund is taking off to help Buckfastleigh residents quash a plan to build a processing plant at Whitecleave Quarry.

Town councillors were told that as much as £30,000 could be raised to make sure objections to the contentious proposal were given a good airing at an appeal launched by developers who are appealing against Devon County Council's rejection of the scheme.

The appeal is expected to be heard in June.

Julia Wilton, of the Buckfastleigh Community Forum, revealed that the running total for the campaign had now hit the £3,000 mark.
