POLICE say they have ‘achieved justice for victims’ following the jailing of a Buckfastleigh man.
Danny Morgan was jailed for three years for various offences including trying to smuggle thousands of pounds worth of drugs into Exeter Prison.
After the sentencing at Exeter Crown Court, police said they were ‘satisfied’ the offender, whose behaviour had caused ‘significant distress’, would not be causing the community any further problems \ for the foreseeable future’.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘We would like to thank the public for their support in helping us achieve justice for the victims and get this prolific offender off the streets.’
Morgan, 26, was jailed for various offences including concealing cocaine and mobile phones in the insole of his trainers.
An X ray revealed cannabis inside his body.
Morgan admitted bringing prohibited articles into prison and a slew of other offences when he appeared in court.
The court heard Morgan was a new arrival at the jail in December 2022 and was searched by staff who found cocaine with a prison value of £5,600 and cannabis worth £350 behind bars.
Morgan, of Market Close, refused to say who the drugs were for because ‘they know my family’.
He was also jailed for possessing a knife in public and criminal damage to property and local offences in Buckfastleigh during 2025.
Morgan received additional time for possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.
He was also sentenced to five months imprisonment, as well as one month for the damage to property where he smashed a neighbour’s window and one month concurrent for possession of a class B controlled drug (cannabis).
Morgan was also given three months concurrent sentence for using threatening, abusive, insulting words behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
