RESIDENTS have until Thursday, January 12, to comment on plans to change the 1951 rule which makes it illegal to ride any type of bike in Newton Abbot’s parks.

The proposal is to change the byelaw to enable clearly marked park routes to be dedicated for use as safe, off-road travel links for people on bikes.

Allowing people to use bikes in parks would enable people to avoid heavy traffic routes and use their bikes to cycle to school, to work or to shop.
