A TEIGNBRIDGE fire crew have completed their final static bike ride ahead of their fund-raising trip to Spain.

Chagford Fire Station’s Finbar, Frank, Greg, Mark, Nick, Rex and Tom, with special guest Blaze Bear, could be spotted at Exeter’s Princesshay on Saturday, May 17.

With no expert training or expensive bikes and clad in complete firefighters’ service kit, the crew will depart for the ‘New York of the Mediterranean’ on May 25, with the municipality’s Llevant Beach serving as the finish line.

The more than 1,000 mile journey is in aid of The Firefighters Charity; a charity specialises in providing both physical and mental support for firefighters and their families.

And Saturday’s static challenge, like that of the early week’s at Trago Mills, was a way for the crew to cover the ‘ferry miles’ - the distance lost cycling while crossing the Channel.

The crew, whose ages range from 21 to 58-years-old, have been preparing for the challenge since June 2024.

The Princess Hay challenge saw the crew raise £249 toward their goal.

A spokesperson for the station said: ‘We have finished our UK rides to complete the ferry journey.

‘We would like to thank everyone for their generosity’.

Finbar, Frank, Greg, Mark, Nick, Rex and Tom’s journey can be followed on Facebook from their new page, ‘Benidorm or Bust’.

Thank you Princesshay Exeter for allowing us to use your space and Costa Coffee Exeter for being so kind in your support and encouragement!’ the crew said via the page.
