THE Incident Support Unit from Bovey Tracey joined fire engines from Dartmouth and Totnes to tackle a barn fire in Blackawton this morning (Saturday), along with a water carrier from Torquay.

A spokesperson for the Devon Fire and Rescue Service said: ‘On arrival crews confirmed that there was one barn containing bales of hay which were smouldering.

‘Fire crews worked with the local farmer to remove the smouldering hay in a controlled manner with a hose reel jet on standby as a precaution.

‘The cause of this incident is believed to be accidental.’
