Newton Abbot Fire Station raised £706 for the Fire Fighters Charity at its first open day in nearly ten years.
The event, on Sunday (August 31,) included demonstrations of road traffic collision (RTC) rescues and of Torquay Fire Station’s new aerial ladder platform (ALP), tours of a heavy rescue appliance and the new wildfire fighting vehicles, and interactive activities for all ages.
‘Although the heavens opened on several occasions throughout the day, spirits certainly weren’t dampened,’ a spokesperson from Newton Abbot Fire Station said. ‘The open day was a huge success.’
The Fire Fighters Charity provides lifelong care and support to firefighters and their families.
