FIRE crews from Newton Abbot, Teignmouth, Ashburton and Buckfastleigh were today, Thursday, helping to tackle a major blaze at a holiday park.

At least 10 crews were called in to deal with the blaze, understood to be in the sauna of the leisure complex at Devon Hills Holiday Village, about five miles from Totnes on the road to Paignton.

The emergency call came in shortly after 7am.

By 11.45 Fire Control reported that fire crews are dampening town the fire in the sauna of the leisure complex at Devon Hills Holiday.

They said: ‘The main fire has been put out and the incident has been scaled down to three fire engines, one aerial ladder platform and one water bowser.

‘The roof was badly damaged in the blaze.’

By 2pm they reported crews had left the scene.
