FIREFIGHTERS in Dawlish have been keen to warn about the dangers of cigarettes following a blaze at a holiday park.

Crews from Dawlish were alerted to a fire a holiday park which appeared to have been caused by a discarded cigarette. 

On arrival, fire crews said the fire had been extinguished by other residents on site before the holiday home had really caught alight. 

A spokesman said: ‘The fire was possibly caused by a cigarette left lit in an ash tray on the outside table.’

They explained the fire had totally destroyed the table. 

Crews used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots before leaving it in the hands of the park management.
