FIREFIGHTERS from Buckfastleigh joined colleagues to tackle a mock scenario at Buckfast Abbey, enhancing their skills in a realistic training exercise.

Joined by colleagues from Bovey Tracey and Torquay, the crew from Buckfastleigh Fire Station made the short trip to Buckfast Abbey for their latest training night.

The mock scenario saw firefighters tackle a fire at a disused factory frequented by rough sleepers.

A spokesperson for the station said: ‘Our aim was to provide a realistic learning environment for numerous breathing apparatus wears and a challenging incident for a firefighter who is about to embark on an incident command course.

‘It was a very successful evening and we would like to thank Buckfast Abbey for facilitating this event and for their continued support to the fire and other emergency services’.
