Sally Henley, Newton Abbot's town development manager, has said she is saddened by the loss of independent fishmonger, Andy Jago, from Market Walk.

His counter had traded in the prime location for 18 years, but is now shuttered up and awaiting a new tenant.

Market manager Mick Ford, who works for landlord Teignbridge Council, said the fishmonger had decided not to renew the lease after a fall in sales.
