PLANNERS have given the green-light for a development of five homes in the centre of Newton Abbot.
The application - reference 23/01337/FUL - sought permission for five detached, split-level houses on land adjacent to the house known as ‘Frankton’, pictured , off Jetty Marsh Road.
‘The proposal is intended to be a high quality development which will have an individual identity which will enhance the setting of the site and its prominent position along a major through route’, the design and access statement for 23/01337/FUL says.
‘The buildings are set well below the top of the slope and from more distant views will be absorbed into the landscaped area.
‘The design and scale is appropriate for the plot and the chosen design ensures no adverse impact on neighbouring properties’, the statement adds.
According to the statement, each house will have a six panel solar array, an air source heat pump and an electric vehicle charging point.
The site has an existing access onto Jetty Marsh Road, which will lead into an access drive and houses with two parking spaces each.
Planning permission was granted for fourteen flats on this land in October 2010, but that development did not progress.
