Floral demonstrator Charlotte Dawe, from Port Isaac, entertained and inspired the members of Newton Abbot Flower Club with her floristry skills.

Charlotte, presently working at Flower Scene in Launceston, shared her extensive knowledge and skills, along with her trade tips in creatingwonderfully modern arrangements, quickly and efficiently.

During the evening she created five beautiful designs using a variety of containers from homemade kindling pots to designs around contemporary picture frames. Each one was unique, colourful and meticulously constructed. At the end of the evening all her arrangements were raffled off.

In the kindling container, Charlotte made a tall arrangement using pampas grass and dried delphiniums, grouping and staggering their heights. She kept the colours to tones of green and white, adding longiflorum lilies and soft airy grasses. She finished with some lime-green dogwood and aspidistra leaves.

In a grey plastic boat-shape bowl, Charlotte fanned out natural ting-ting to follow the line of the container and then arranged pink Oriental lilies, red gladioli, bright red roses, viburnum, alstroemeria and rose hips across the design – all rich deep warm colours.

Charlotte was married earlier this year and she designed all her flowers from the bouquets to table arrangements. Memnbers e were delighted to see her fabulous recreation of one of her 12 large table displays.

On a sturdy base she had erected a large wired heart shape, which was decorated with pink felt and ribbon. To this she attached some small pink roses wired on in test tubes. The base of the arrangement was a mass of pink flowers, including roses, Oriental lilies, anthiriums, and magenta carnations. These were intertwined with ivy, fatsia, hebee and senecio and then pink wool looped loosely through the arrangement. A visually stunning display, which would be a talking piece at any reception.

The next meeting, A Christmas Cracker, is with national demonstrator Jaqui Arnold on Monday, November 28 at The Courtenay Centre, Kingsteignton Road, Newton Abbot.

Pop along for some festive craft and goodies and see some stunning Christmas arrangements created before your eyes.

Doors open at 6.45pm for refreshments and the show starts at 7.30pm.
