A SUMMER show of flowers, plants and vegetables brightened up Ashburton Town Hall.

The Ashburton and District Garden Association’s annual seasonal show attracted many entries from members and non-members.

Nicola Caunter, association committee member, said: ‘There was quite a lot of entries this year which we were very pleased about. Considering we had downpours a couple of days before the show we were impressed with what was there.

‘There were a lot of flower arrangements this year, which is great, and that category has certainly perked up a lot.’

As well as produce there was a lively children’s activities area where budding young growers painted, created mini gardens and made models with vegetables.

At the end of the show some of the produce was auctioned off. Proceeds will go to the dialysis unit at Torbay Hospital, the association’s chosen charity for the last couple of years.
