POLICE and paramedics were called to The Avenue Church, Newton Abbot, this morning after a man was found dead outside the building.

An ambulance crew alerted police after the discovery of a man, thought to be homeless and in his 50s.

A police spokesman confirmed that a body had been found in the town centre area. The alarm was raised just after 9.30am.

It is understood the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
