Roger and Annie Kirk, of Shaldon, trustees, write:
We are writing to you to thank publicly Carol Hayes, licensee of the Cellars Bar, Teignmouth, and her family for organising a most ambitious and successful fund-raising special event to benefit The Helen Foundation.
Throughout Friday, Saturday and Sunday – the Cellars ran Cellars stock, where a DJ night was followed by local bands donating their time to entertain the massed crowds that gathered to hear them.
The Quails, and the Outfit headlined the evenings, with other local bands ranging from Giraffodils, Atrio to Iconyx to Gary Nock, Bad Mojo, Far From the Tree, Barefoot Manoeuvre, Hey Molly and Dolcet Tones. All played to great acclaim.
More than 20 local businesses supported the event by donating draw prizes and barbecue food.
The whole event showed the British pub culture at its best – friendly, generous-spirited, easy-going, family-oriented and great fun.
Pubs and businesses throughout Teignbridge continue to be most generous towards the foundation that supports young people in the district in their ambitions in the arts.
Thank you to everyone who came – most of them local to Teignmouth and area – and contributed to the Cellars Bar fundraising. We believe more than £1,300 was raised to support the charity. Fantastic.
