FOUR fire engines were called to tackle a property fire in Shillingford St George, near Exeter, shortly before midday on Tuesday, June 30.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service initially mobilised three fire engines from Danes Castle and Middlemoor.

However, after the first crew arrived at the scene, a fourth appliance from Middlemoor was requested to assist.

Firefighters used four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, one attack jet, two safety jets, two thermal imaging cameras, a positive pressure ventilation fan, two gas monitors and small tools to bring the blaze under control and extinguish the fire.

Shillingford St George is a village on the outskirts of Exeter, approximately three miles south of the city.
