A COMMUNITY centre is to host several life-saving sessions from March.

The Riverside Community Centre will play host to free CPR and defibrillator training sessions not once, not twice, but thrice: Monday, March 27; Tuesday, April 4, and Wednesday, April 19.

Each session, of which 20 spaces per session are avaliable, will run from 7pm until 8pm.

A spokesman for Bovey Tracey Town Council said: 'Bovey Tracey is fortunate enough to have several defibrillators around the town.

'Recently Devon Air Ambulance have provided one to cover the Riverside Community Centre and Station Road carpark end of Bovey Tracey - this unit has already been used three times.

'If you have ever had the need to use one, you will know that even with training, it still can be a nerve-wracking event - without any training, it may become almost panic inducing.

'This is why the Town Council are so pleased to be able to make the offer of training, free of charge, for the residents of Bovey Tracey and surrounding areas.'

If you would like to add your name to the list, either email [email protected] or phone the Town Hall on 01626 834217.

It should be mentioned that, should one find themselves engaged with an answer phone, organisers ask you leave your name, contact phone number and the date you would like - they will then phone you back to confirm your place.

The training has been organised by Bovey men, Tony Allen and Ian Hutchings.
