FRESH calls have been made to reduce the speed limit on a busy Newton Abbot road.

On Wednesday, members of the town council heard from county and district representative Cllr Gordon Hook.

He said it made no sense that drivers in St Marychurch Road, which is bordered by two housing estates, were allowed to travel at 40mph when the newly-upgraded stretch of Kingskerswell Road which serves just one property had a 30mph limit.

‘Where’s the consistency, where’s the logic in that?’ he asked.

Cllr Hook told the town hall meeting that his concerns for the public’s safety had
