THE long-awaited regeneration around Brunswick Street, Teignmouth, could be getting off the ground at last.
The area, close to the seafront and town centre, has been an eyesore for years with derelict sites that could not be developed because most of it is below sea level and vulnerable to flooding from the sea and river.
But now the river beach flood defence scheme has been completed, the blight has been lifted and the land is ripe for development.
It has been approved for a local development order by the government, which means construction can be fast- tracked.
A scheme could include new homes, shops, a hotel and community facilities, all creating new jobs.
