A COMMUNITY fridge in one Teignbridge town was bursting at the seams with organic vegetables over the weekend thanks to a local farmer.
Ashburton Community Fridge has been jam-packed with leeks and cabbage in recent days, freshly picked from farmer Lloyd's field.
Although snatched up quickly, further deliveries of vegetables are expected later in the month.
A spokesman for Ashburton Community Fridge said: 'Many thanks to Lloyd the farmer for giving us this opportunity to "glean" his wonderful crops, and to our volunteers who showed up on a rainy Saturday morning to spend several hours in a muddy field - a great team!'
