NEARLY £20,000 has been raised for a Newton Abbot charity by the town’s hospital league of friends.

Members of the friends group recently visited Hannahs at Seale-Hayne to see how their £19,732 cash-boost has been spent.

The league of friends is a charity interested in health and saving lives which regularly makes grants to an array of organisations after tirelessly fundraising.

Officials at Hannahs, based off the Ashburton Road, have used the staggering amount to buy wheelchair clamps, a shower trolley, a hoist changing room, a mobile hoist and defibrillator.

Hayley Dann, head of fundraising at Hannahs, said: ‘We were extremely delighted upon receiving notification of this wonderful donation and it was an absolute pleasure showing the friends around our Seale-Hayne site.

‘The difference that their generosity is making and will continue to make for many years is immense.

‘We would not be able to provide the facilities, support and care for hundreds of people every year if it wasn’t for the generosity of our local community so we are very grateful for this donation.’
