A DAWLISH businesswoman has launched a month-long fundraiser in aid of a Cyprus-based dog rehoming charity as uncertainty sets in amid turmoil in the Middle East.

Throughout March, Chrissy Marks of Signature Hair and Beauty will be raising money for Saving Pound Dogs Cyprus (SPDC).

SPDC is a non-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray dogs to loving homes in the UK, Cyprus and Germany.

Chrissy has supported SPDC since adopting then nine-year-old Macauley in 2021.

Sadly, Macauley passed away in February.

Chrissy’s latest fundraising efforts are both in memory of Macauley, but also in response to the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East.

In regular contact with the charity, Chrissy was told that people have been panic buying goods at supermarkets and SPDC are concerned about running out of supplies, chiefly dog food.

‘Shops are seeing people emergency buying as the war in Middle East affects Cyprus and food supplies are depleted’, Chrissy said.

‘SPDC are worried about getting food for the dogs’, Chrissy added.

Chrissy will be collecting money for the charity at her Queen Street salon, selling specially made cakes from March 17.
