A FUNDRAISING campaign has been launched to help a popular Dawlish coastal cafe which was damaged during the recent storms.

Buddy’s at Red Rock has been forced to close after a sinkhole appeared under the area of decking.

This had only recently been rebuilt after damage caused by vandals.

Now a Go Fund Me appeal has been launched to help the owners fund necessary repairs.

The owners said: ‘We’re stool awaiting an update from Network Rail regarding the situation and how long repairs are likely to take.

‘We can’t wait to get this beautiful little spot open again for everyone to enjoy.

‘A huge thank you to everyone who has donated towards the cost of repairs — your kindness and support truly means the world to us.

‘We’ll show exactly how every penny is spent, so you can see just how much you’ve helped us through this difficult time.

‘As most of you know, this was always a passion project — bringing this special place back to life so everyone could enjoy it again.

‘Every bit of kindness is helping us move closer to reopening the decking and welcoming you all back.

‘From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing by us.’

The cafe was reopened a year ago by owners Paul Michaels, partner Jack McKimm, and close friends Craig Harvey and partner Sharna Hales, who wanted revive the café after spotting the neglected, derelict building.

It took months of work to restore and is named after Buddy, their much-loved springer spaniel who died aged 13.

The appeal was set up by Lucy McGarrity who said: ‘This beloved local spot has always been about community and kindness, and your support can help them get back on their feet.

‘It is more than just a small business — it’s a much-loved part of our community.’re.

The appeal has raised more than £450 of a target of £2,200.
