THE prospect of a new railway station at Edginswell has improved after the announcement of a £130.3 million funding boost for the south west.

The government confirmed the Growth Deal money this week and said the cash would support economic growth in the area to 2021.

It claimed as many as 13,000 jobs could be created as a result and that up to 8,000 homes would be built thanks to improved infrastructure.

Some £600,000 has been earmarked for the creation of new stations at Marsh Barton and Edginswell, a site favoured over Kingskerswell by Torbay Council.
