Newton Abbot's Natalie Melmore narrowly missed out in her bid to retain the Commonwealth Games women's singles title when she was beaten in the final in Glasgow by New Zealand's Jo Edwards 21-15, writes Tony Atkins.
Melmore (right), a member at Kings, Torquay, won four of her five matches in the group to go on and win a thriller with local favourite Carole Brown (Scotland) in the knock-out stage, followed by an equally dramatic last end win over Colleen Piketh (South Africa) to reach the final.
