THERE will be plenty of jammin’ in Ashburton over the weekend – and not of the WI or Bob Marley variety.

The town’s Ashburton Rollers are putting on their annual Skate Jam at the Recreation Ground tomorrow.

New to the annual event will be a trophy for the best trick performed on the day... on a skateboard.

Sponsorship for the addition comes from the Paulo Memorial Fund.

There will be music, a BBQ and ice cream van – with a slackline set-up for added entertainment.

Helmets are compulsory for anyone turning up for the fun and games which start at midday. Entry is £2.

A spokesman for the event said: ‘It will round off a busy weekend in Ashburton with the well-known food festival on Saturday and live music around the town all weekend!’
