A 12-YEAR-OLD girl suffered suspected serious head injuries after being in collision with a car outside Newton Abbot College this afternoon (Tuesday).

The youngster was treated at the scene by paramedics after the accident in Old Exeter Road with an Exeter-registered BMW at 3.30pm.

The girl was due to be airlifted to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital by the Devon Air Ambulance which landed in the college field.

Rush-hour traffic was diverted.
