SEVEN days a week, every week of the year, Watchkeepers at Teignmouth Coastwatch are using their binoculars.
Unsurprisingly, with such continuous use, they have come to the end of their useful life.
One of their Watchkeepers, who is also a member of the Rotary Club of Dartmoor Vale, asked if the Club would be prepared to donate two pairs of quality binoculars.
This was unanimously approved by the Club and two new pairs were presented by Ian Wanless, President of Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club to Isobel Brooks, Station Manager, NCI Teignmouth Coastwatch.
Isobel said: ‘With more than sixty volunteers using our binoculars to keep local boat users, swimmers, paddle boarders in safe view, our binoculars have had years of heavy use.
‘Teignmouth Coastwatch is very grateful to Dartmoor Vale Rotary Club for their generous donation. We shall put them to very good use.’
