A busy convenience store and petrol station is to temporarily close in Teignmouth this weekend.

Tesco Express on Bitton Park Road in Teignmouth will shut at 8am on Saturday (January 31) as the store undergoes a refurbishment.

The petrol station will reopen at midday on Tuesday (February 2). However, staff have warned that the Tesco Express shop will only be stocking a reduced range of ‘essentials’, such as milk, through February as further work to develop the interior of the store takes place.

Once reopened the store will operate under its usual hours of 6am until midnight apart from three days during February when it will open later. On Monday February 9 and Monday February 23, the shop be closed in the monring and will open at midday and on Thursday February 23, the store will not open until 10am.

A Tesco spokesperson said: ‘Our Teignmouth Tesco Express on Bitton Park Road is undergoing a refit to improve the overall shopping experience for customers. Works include upgraded shelving, an improved range, re-decoration of the store and the installation of new energy efficient fridges and freezers. We apologise for the inconvenience caused while the works take place, and we look forward to customers visiting the refreshed store.’
