THE owners of a holiday park which has a history of going ahead without planning permission have won retrospective permission to retain electrical hook-ups on site.

On Tuesday, Teignbridge Council Planning Committee approved the application by Mr and Mrs Ryeland and Mrs Salter to change the use of land from agricultural to a camping use for tents during July and August only and to retain the electrical hook-ups at Haldon Forest Holiday Park, Clapham.

A site inspection had been held and all members on the team considered the application acceptable.

In a letter, Cllr Kevin Lake said the site historically did not comply with planning regulations.

‘The new owner has not engaged with the local community. I would like the committee to ensure that the site is continually monitored,’ he wrote.

The committee heard that it was intended to put in a new sewage treatment plant on the site.

Cllr Sylvia Russell supported the view that the site should be monitored carefully outside July and August. ‘I do have concerns about future plans on this site,’ she said.
