BRAVE volunteers and staff from Newton Abbot Community Transport Association are preparing to take part in a gruelling challenge which will see them cycling for 25 hours.

The mad few came up with the idea of a static cycle ride in the heart of the town.

The event, which takes place tomorrow, will see two static bikes set up and the aim is to keep both of the machines moving for 12 and a half hours each.

Cycling begins at 8.30am when mayor Liz Roberts and deputy mayor Ann Jones will be taking to the bikes and the town crier Ken Purchase will be there for support.

Members of the public are being invited to come along and take part a competition to see who can reach the fastest speed in 30 seconds.

The Market Square will play home to the event.
