FIRE chiefs say lessons could be learned at national level after a 16-bedroom golf club hotel burnt to the ground in the Teign Valley.More than £1 million damage was caused when flames tore through the timber-framed three-storey extension to the stone-built clubhouse at the Teign Valley club, near Christow, on Tuesday.More than 100 firefighters from across south Devon spent most of the day trying to contain the blaze. The clubhouse was not affected. But the ten crews involved in the 999 shout were hampered in their efforts by a mass of solidly fixed solar panels on the roof of the 60m by 11m hotel, which was built in 2007.
