Two professional golfers will be putting their clubs and tees away for 11 days to cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats for charity.

David Jeffs, from Chudleigh, and Jody Bee, from Cockwood, will start the gruelling challenge on Monday and aim to ride 1,021 miles.

'We'll be riding around 80 miles a day,' said Mr Jeffs.

Mr Bee will be raising money for Epilepsy Action, while Mr Jeffs will be getting sponsorship for Exeter Leukaemia Fund, which supports those with leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood conditions.

'They look after my dad who has multiple myeloma – a type of cancer arising through plasma cells found in the bone marrow.

'I just wanted to help and do something positive.'

The pair have been training for around a month and are currently cycling around 150-200 miles a week to get fit.

'I've travelled a lot around the world, but this will give me the chance to see my own country,' said Mr Jeffs.

'I'm looking forward to seeing Scotland and riding through the lochs.'
