A NEW Greggs store in Kingsteignton has taken its next step to becoming a reality as Teignbridge District Council approve an application to convert a unit in the town’s trading estate.
25/00313/FUL sought to widen the permitted use of Unit A2 at Kingsteignton Trading Estate to include Use Class E(a) and Use Class E(b), which will allow for the sale of food and drink.
And it’s British bakery chain Greggs that will occupy the unit.
Having been granted planning permission, development must begin within three years, TDC said in its decision notice.
But prior to any development, a Construction Management Plan (CMP) must be submitted, the council said.
Alder King Planning Consultants submitted a CMP on July 10, with a decision due on or before September 4.
Another stipulation made by TDC was the opening hours.
‘The use shall not take place other than between the following hours of 6am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday and 7am to 6pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays’, the council said.
The proposal will generate employment for the local area with 15 new jobs, a mix of full time and part time positions, the planning statement for 25/00313/FUL says.
It will have a ‘positive impact on the local economy through providing direct and indirect jobs’ and will deliver a ‘high-quality development that complements the local and surrounding context’, the statement adds.
Kingsteignton Town Council raised no objection to the application.
