A LOCAL running group set off on their 1,220th run this week and marked the occasion with a bit of fun.

The Haldon Hash House Harriers, a local running group formed in 1998, decided that nothing could be more appropriate for Monday’s run than by setting off from Twelve Twenty.

Overlooking Newton Abbot’s historic clock tower, the restaurant serves up a range of homemade dishes and also provided an ideal backdrop for the local running groups 1220th run.

It is also widely held that the construction of St Leonard’s tower began around the year 1220.

The Haldon Hash House Harriers run 52 weeks a year from local pubs whatever the weather.

Runner Chris Bryant said: ‘It’s a social thing, you know, we’ve got an away weekend in Cornwall in July, with fancy dress, a disco and of course various runs.’
