CHILDREN at St Michael’s primary school, Kingsteignton, have used their harvest festival celebrations to help those less fortunate.
For the second year running, the pupils took donations of food into school where, after a blessing from the Rev Mark Smith, they were handed over to volunteers from Homeless in Teignbridge Support.
Hits provides food, household items and toiletries to families and individuals in crisis.
It also offers baby equipment, help for pets, white goods, secondhand furniture, key metre credit, emergency accommodation, children’s clothes and travel assistance.
Head of school Karen West, commenting on the amount of goods donated by the children, said: ‘One of our pupils pointed out that there are so many people struggling to find enough to eat and yet we have enough to share.
‘It is always amazing to see how generous people can be.’
