HAYTOR Rock has gazed down on some strange sights over the years. In the late 60s it was invaded by Flower People in their thousands. The 80s-90s saw members of the Monster Raving Loony Party hold summits on the rock, there have been summer solstices, and on Sunday dancers were the latest to add their mark to the moorland turf. Between noon and 2pm it is estimated that on and off more than 200 people joined in Dance in Devon's special event as part of Dance Month. July has been a Team Devon themed month, and this was one of a number of events in the south west marking the Cultural Olympiad open weekend. Families joined the mass dance with numbers fluctuating during the two hours, while it also attracted fascinated spectators.
