The district headteacher who last week received an OBE for his contribution to education has said there is plenty more yet to achieve. Paul Jones, 56, has taught at Blackpool C of E Primary since 1999 and is now executive head of the First Federation of primaries, which includes Blackpool, Chudleigh Knighton and three others in the county. The arrangement was one of the first in Britain and is seen as the way forward, delivering consistency in the classroom as well as efficiency savings. Mr Jones has helped to spearhead the approach nationally and has advised at senior levels. 'I just think that in the 21st century primary education needs to move on and federation is now being picked up by a large number of local authorities,' he said.
