FOUR deaths related to coronavirus have been recorded in the most recent weekly figures – three of which occurred in someone’s private home.

The figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS) which relate to the week of May 1 to May 7 but registered up to May 15, show that four of the 272 deaths registered in the Devon and Cornwall had Covid-19 mentioned on the death certificate.

It is the third week in a row where there were no deaths in a care home, and the eighth consecutive week in which the number is in single figures.

The figures for week 18 (May 1-7), show deaths in a private home of someone from East Devon, South Hams and Teignbridge, as well as a death of someone from East Devon in a hospital.

A further death from week 16 (April 17-23) of someone at home in Cornwall has been added into the dataset this week as well.

No deaths so far have been registered in the Isles of Scilly, and there were no deaths in the most recent week in Cornwall, West Devon, Torbay (for the 2nd week running), Exeter and Mid Devon (for the 5th week running), in Torridge and Plymouth (for the 6th week running), and North Devon (for the 13th week running) were registered.
