Play facilities in Heathfield and roads in Bovey Tracey will be improved thanks to allocated funding given by the county council from money allocated from the sale of Exeter International Airport.
In total, £10,000 has been assigned for better play areas in Heathfield.
The money has been set aside from Bovey Tracey rural county Cllr Sally Morgan's local projects fund.
Teignbridge Council and Bovey Tracey Town Council are also contributing to the £120,000 project.
Cllr Morgan said: 'Heathfield desperately needs better play facilities for its young people. This money will go towards improving the quality of life and play in Heathfield for parents and children alike.'
Bovey Tracey town mayor Cllr Dorreen Black added: 'Bovey Tracey Town Council have for sometime been aware of the need to improve play facilities at Heathfield.
'Working in partnership with Teignbridge Council and the county council, the town council is now able to go a long way to provide improved outdoor play facilities. This £10,000 grant from the sale of Exeter Airport is a very welcome financial contribution in addition to the funds being provided by the town and district councils as well as the Bovey Tracey Alms House Trust which has also kindly donated £7,500.
'On behalf of Bovey Tracey Town Council I would like to say thank you to Cllr Morgan for arranging this grant.'
Improvements to the cross point on the A382 Station Road roundabout in Bovey Tracey are to be carried out thanks to a further £10,000.
The cash was again allocated by Cllr Morgan from her local projects fund.
The total cost of the project is £14,000, with other funding coming from the county council's highways budget.
The work includes re-aligning the kerbs and widening the footpath.
'Since I was elected residents from the Station Road area have regularly contacted me about the safety of pedestrians at the roundabout,' said Cllr Morgan.
'I made it one of my priorities to get something done about it. I'm delighted that our safety concerns are being addressed in this area.'
