DARTMOOR National Park Authority (DNPA) has issued a warning over the increased risk of wildfire this Bank Holiday weekend.

With temperatures expected to reach as high as 28 degrees in parts of the South West, the authority is urging visitors to Dartmoor to do their part in protecting the landscape.

As such, the DNPA is reminding people that open fires are not allowed and urging people against lighting barbecues.

Making sure to take litter home, dispose of cigarettes and vapes properly and keep glass bottles out of direct sunlight, are other key reminders by the DNPA.

The DNPA, via its Facebook page, said: ‘A few small choices could make a big difference in protecting this special landscape.

‘If you spot a wildfire, contact the fire service immediately on 999 with the exact location.

‘Please help us to look after Dartmoor’.
