TEIGNMOUTH went jazz crazy at the weekend, with hundreds of performers and fans from all over the country and Europe flocking in to listen to an eclectic range of music.

The annual festival is now firmly on the national jazz map and the event also provides the town with an economic boost at a quiet time of the year.

There were 35 main gigs and 21 fringe events, spread across six main venues, including the Carlton Theatre, Take 2, Teignmouth Rugby Club, the United Reformed Church, Coast View Holiday Park, Shaldon, and the Oystercatcher, plus pubs, cafes and shops.

Dave Phillips, chairman of the Friends of Teignmouth Jazz Festival, said all the performances were packed out, and even the poor weather on Friday evening did not dampen the enthusiasm of the fans.
