DARTMOOR’S history hunters’ event is heading to Exeter for a special family fun day at the Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery (RAMM).
The event, organised each year by Dartmoor National Park Authority, is this year moving from its base in Postbridge and is being held in conjunction with RAMM.
History Hunters Family Fun Day takes place on Saturday, 19 July from 10.30am until 3.30pm.
Entry to RAMM is free.
The day is designed to suit children aged from five to 11 years old and is aimed at helping them to discover and understand Dartmoor's cultural heritage in new and fun ways.
History Hunters is a fantastic opportunity for families to uncover the secrets of Dartmoor.
There will be crafts, activities and things to make and take home.
Children can have a go at being an archaeologist uncovering treasures in excavation trays, shape a clay pot, spin some wool, play some medieval games, take a selfie with our Victorian camera and much more.
Dartmoor National Park Authority’s Outreach and Engagement Officer, Andy Bailey, said: ‘We’re really looking forward to coming to Exeter and bringing Dartmoor’s incredible history to life.
‘It will be a chance for us to meet lots of people we might not normally see and to share our passion for what makes the National Park so special.
‘It is great to be working with RAMM again and we thank them for welcoming us back.’
History Hunters Family Fun Day is just one event in a range of activities and outreach organised by Dartmoor National Park Authority.
RAMM’s Public Programme Officer, Stephanie Cherrett, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Dartmoor National Park Authority to RAMM.
‘We are sure our visitors will love exploring the heritage of Dartmoor, so much of which is represented by objects in our collection at the museum’.
