A ROAD closure in Teignmouth has led to long diversions for bus passengers and no service to much of Dawlish.

Dawlish Road in Teignmouth is completely shut for several days while South West Water installs a drinking water connection to the new toilet block at East Cliff car park.

But the small section of road which is closed off means disruption for bus passengers and a vastly reduced service to Dawlish with the advice to take a train.

While the 2 and 11 services will continue to operate, there will be various diversions in place in both directions.

Passengers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys.

Bus company Stagecoach says the 2 service towards Exeter will operate via New Road.

But there will no service between Dawlish Road and Abbey Mount with the nearest stops being New Road and Teignmouth railway station.

The 2 service towards Newton Abbot will operate via the A38 between Teignmouth Railway Station and Dawlish Sainsbury’s.

Where this service will serve Dawlish Community College, it will continue to serve these stops before returning to Exeter.

Service will operate via the A30 to Teignmouth Railway Station and then continue to Newton Abbot.

Your nearest stops will be Teignmouth railway station and Dawlish Sainsburys or Dawlish Community College.

The 11 Service will terminate at Teignmouth Railway Station and will be ‘unable’ to serve Dawlish.

Passengers are advised to use the 2 service from Teignmouth Railway Station for all onward journeys to and from Dawlish.

Following the road closure, for the remainder of the works the site will be under traffic management enabling normal routes to run.
