DEVON and Cornwall Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg told Teignbridge Council, on Monday, that having contact with the police at a one stop shop, library or wherever, would be explored.
But along with the Teignbridge Police Commander, Supt Glen Mayhew – who is based in Newton Abbot – he made no promises in the face of having to make £14 million budget savings in the next four years.
Newton Abbot police station public inquiry desk is earmarked for closure – if the proposals are accepted at a behind closed doors meeting of the police and crime panel in Plymouth today, it will be one of 11 to be axed across the two counties and see the loss of more than half of around 60 civilian posts.
