URGENT repairs are to be carried out on two bridges near Ashburton after vehicles struck the structures in separate incidents, damaging stonework and a bridge parapet.
Work on the old Holne Bridge and Newbridge at Holne is due to begin on Saturday, October 24, with closures in place until Sunday, November 1.
Both bridges have been struck by vehicles in a number of separate incidents over recent weeks.
The parapet of the Grade II Listed Holne Bridge has been displaced, while Newbridge has sustained damage to its parapet and coping stones.
To allow the repairs to be completed, both structures will be subject to closures during the work.
Holne Bridge will be completely closed 24 hours a day throughout the scheme, with no access permitted.
Newbridge will also close during the day, between 8am and 5pm, each day from Saturday, October 24, until Sunday, November 1.
The closures have been planned to minimise disruption and allow the repairs to be completed as quickly as possible.
However, the work is weather dependent, meaning conditions could affect the repair schedule.
Motorists and other bridge users are advised to plan ahead and take the closures into account when travelling in the area.
