A BID to convert a disused Teignmouth shop into a home has been rejected by a planning inspector.He ruled that the proposed change of use and alterations at 17 Northumberland Place, would be detrimental to the conservation area.John Wilde said the front of the property has 'pleasing proportions' which reflected the historical use, and there were several other shops that had a similar design.The changes would result in the front door being removed and a timber stud wall with a built in recess, being built directly behind the footway, in line with the windows.
