Kingsteignton resident Dave Lee has been left devastated after his property at Sandygate Mews was flooded for the second time, on Sunday, writes Dawn Ellis.
Now he is staying with friends and family for the next four months while the damage is assessed and the ground floor dries out after torrential rain swamped the area.
The first time it happened, four years ago, he had just moved in and within hours the building was underwater.
'When I bought the property I had no idea the area was a flood risk and it didn't come up in any surveys when i purchased it,' he said.
'Last time, the big items in the house, that we couldn't get upstairs, were ruined and it cost about £50,000 to put the house right.
'Now it's the same again. I've lost my television, white goods and the carpets are ruined. I'll have to make an insurance claim, but the excess is £4,000 as I have been flooded before.'
