A campaign to provide youngsters in Kingsteignton with a £40,000 purpose-built skate and BMX park will not be derailed by vandals, supporters insist.

Last month play equipment at Clifford Park was attacked, causing damage valued at £7,500.

The action not only put swings out of action but jeopardised plans to build the long-awaited skate facility in the park amid fears that it would also be damaged.

But as a result of publicity in the Advertiser and inquiries around town police now have a number of leads.

PCSO Vanessa Pike, who has worked with the Kingsteignton Riders Union (KRU) to build the skatepark, said action was imminent.
