The League of Friends of Teignmouth Hospital continues to provide reliable support despite uncertainty over the future of the Mill Lane building and difficulties within the NHS.

At the recent AGM, chair Dave Rogers reported on cuts to NHS funding and the departure of several key staff from the Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust with no plans for their replacements. He also noted that the Trust is looking to share some services with neighbouring Trusts in Plymouth and Exeter.

The League retains solid assets, reported treasurer Gordon Bond, despite recently investing in redecoration and the supply of three televisions in waiting areas.

President Freda Welton noted that, after forming 70 years ago, the League had had supported numerous requests for equipment and maintenance thanks to the generosity of local people.
